The Ackley City Council is moving forward with ordinance updates and early budget planning following its regular meeting earlier this month.
At the Jan. 14 meeting, council members approved the first reading of an ordinance amending the city’s nuisance abatement and junk vehicle regulations. A public hearing for the second reading is scheduled for Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Ackley Council Chambers.
As part of early fiscal year 2027 budget discussions, council members agreed to leave health insurance offerings unchanged and discussed moving toward electronic council packets.
In other action, the council approved several resolutions, including setting the city’s 2026 mileage reimbursement rate, designating the Ackley World Journal as the official newspaper and entering into a shared services agreement between the Ackley and Grant Lee fire departments. The council also approved nearly $24,000 in repairs for lightning damage to city well equipment.
