Residents of Rowan are under a boil order until further notice after water pressure was lost in the city’s system. City officials say water service has been restored as of today (Wed), but the boil order will remain in place while bacteria samples are collected over a two-day testing period. The order is expected to remain in effect through Monday (1/26) or Tuesday (1/27) of next week.
RadioOnTheGo News has learned that the water line break appeared to have involved a single resident’s service line, resulting in minimal risk of contamination. Even so, the advisory will remain in place for now. Officials also warn that additional water service interruptions are possible as repair work continues, and residents may experience reduced water pressure during the cold weather.
