
The Aplington City Council met in regular session January 14th, approving the consent agenda and receiving updates from the Public Works Department, noting Dumont Telephone and Windstream will continue expanding fiber optic service throughout town. The council also approved the purchase of a used sander for $1,200.
During the pool report, it was stated dollar-for-dollar matching donations have reached $25,000, with the full match now received. Maggie Burger of Speer Financial reviewed general obligation and revenue bonds, debt capacity, and the city’s tax increment financing report.
Mayor Jason Mehmen announced 2025 appointments, including reappointing Matt Lind as police chief and naming Paul Hosch, Kasey Sents, Sally Nevenhoven, Dotta Uhlenhopp and Eunice Schipper to the library board.
