The Top of Iowa Girls Wrestling Tournament will take place Thursday at Osage.
West Fork will enter the meet after a 10-day period with no matches. In their last action, they went 1-2 at a home quad on Monday, January 12, where they fell to Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Clear Lake and defeated Nevada. Head Coach Onni Prestidge says they’ll have to contend with a perennial power.
“You never know what’s going happen at the conference tournament,” Prestidge says. “Obviously Osage is Osage. Whether it’s boys or girls or youth. You know they’ve got 140-some kids in their youth program. No matter what happens Osage is going to be Osage. So we’re going to make sure that everything is crisp, everything is clean, all of our moves and our body is where it needs to be for that moment.”
Among team leaders, Josi Janssen is 24-4 at 140 and Jenny Ramirez is 30-6 at 145.
In their last action, North Butler-Clarksville placed fifth at Tuesday’s Cougar Invitational at Sumner-Fredericksburg. Emma Hovenga placed second at 115 and Sydney Lovrien was second at 235.
Action will start at 5:00 p.m.
