Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s basketball teams were each defeated by Clear Lake at home Thursday. The girls fell 51-18 and the boys lost 69-31.

In the girls game, the Lions led 15-9 after the first quarter, allowing the Bulldogs to remain within striking distance. But HDCAL managed to only score four points in the second quarter and two in the third, allowing Clear Lake to pull away.

In the boys game, the #2 (3A) Lions had a quick scoring flurry at the end of the first quarter to spark a run, and proceeded to dominate the second quarter. They scored 30 points in the second stanza for a 46-20 halftime lead. In a low-scoring second half, the Bulldogs were held to just 11 points in 16 minutes while the running clock rule was in effect.

The Bulldogs will return to action Saturday at West Fork on 99 The Wave.
