Hampton-Dumont-CAL and West Fork supporters didn’t let arctic weather stop them this past weekend, turning out in strong numbers to make a meaningful impact at the Franklin County Coaches vs. Cancer games in Sheffield.

Event Chair Sheri Bogue tells RadioOnTheGo News the event has generated $11,535.30 so far through sponsorships, a silent auction, a bucket run, funds raised by the West Fork girls basketball team, and t-shirt sales. West Fork Boys Basketball Head Coach Abe Maske reflects on the opportunity to support the cause.

“Being a part of this is huge. Cancer awareness, we’re trying to raise funds to help with cancer research. Someone that has cancer touches all of our lives, and that is something of importance. We really stressed that was the importance of this game,” says Maske. “It allows us to go out there and put on a show for everybody. To take a second, enjoy what we can do and put a product on the floor. But also remembering that we’re raising funds for such a great cause.”

Fundraising efforts will continue with a free-will donation soup supper on February 6 prior to West Fork’s basketball games against Nashua-Plainfield.
