
The Belmond City Council approved multiple items and heard several departmental updates during its most recent regular meeting on Jan. 19.
Council members heard an annual report from Belmond Growth Alliance Director Iran Carlos Martinez, who highlighted community events including Fiesta on Main, Parade of Lights, Breakfast with Santa and multiple vendor shows.
The council also received an update from Teamsters Local 238 on proposed changes to the police contract, along with budget updates from City Manager Cody Nicholas. Public Works Director Justin Fournier reported cold weather issues at the wastewater treatment plant had been repaired and winter maintenance operations are continuing across the city.
Under old business, the council approved a resolution to keep mileage reimbursement at the 2025 rate of 70 cents per mile.
The council also approved moving Talbot Belmond Public Library payroll processing into the city’s software system to improve efficiency.
