I am finally getting around to blogging about my wonderful weekend in Cedar Falls. My friend Meredith lives in New York with her husband and came back to Cedar Falls to visit her family. She asked the group chat if we would like to join her and her husband in an Air BNB for a weekend. Of Course! She found a beautiful Victorian house for us to stay in.

I arrived Friday afternoon on one of the coldest days but it was cozy inside. We decided to stay on the couch, watch tv and ordered food from Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant. After stuffing our faces, and sitting on the couch a while, I decided to head upstairs to bed. Saturday we got up around 8am, and headed to Patton’s diner on Main Street. We had a wonderful breakfast and proceeded to walk and hit up all the little shops that caught our eyes. I bought two new books at the book store. I grabbed one that sounded good from their staff picks, and found a sale book that was about a haunted house. My favorite! At Main Street exchange we had the pleasure meeting a doggo that had her very own spot in the window. Love that for her.

Had to stop at Cup of Joe for a latte. Next, at one of the vintage stores I scored a couple of t-shirts, Johnny Cash, and a Halloween themed shirts, and some CDs. Perfect! At one of the other book stores, my friend picked up some mini games, and I bought a Lego mini figure puzzle. Later, when it was time for lunch, we headed to my favorite place, Pablo’s! I worked at Pablo’s for years when I lived in Cedar Falls and still crave it every day. After our meal we went back to the Airbnb so relax, play a couple games and have a soda. Then, we had our good friend, that still lives in Cedar Falls come over with her partner for diner. Casey’s pizza plus dips and snacks. Good conversations and lots of laughs were had.

We tried playing Taboo but were too distracted carrying on different conversations. Soon, the night came to an end. Literally, at midnight, we said good bye and headed to bed. Sunday Morning we tried out George’s Local. I remember this building being full of old mechanic stuff and boarded up, now it has a new life as a restaurant. I decided to skip a traditional brunch food for a salad plus a Bloody Mary. Much needed after everything I had eaten the days prior. Then we said our goodbyes. Its never long enough but I love when we can get together, even for a moment and reconnect.
That’s what life is all about. Love of my family and friends.
