Rowan Council to review FY27 budget and levy Monday

The Rowan City Council will review several budget, public safety, and ordinance items during its regular meeting Monday. 

Under new business, the council will hear the fire department’s annual report and budget, and will consider the appointment of a fire chief. They will discuss water department issues and review possible amendments to the fiscal year 2026 budget. 

Council members will also consider the preliminary fiscal year 2027 budget and levy, set a public hearing date for the property tax levy, and schedule a special meeting for the full budget hearing. Possible changes to the city’s chicken ordinance are also on the agenda. 

Old business includes county maintenance on city streets, abandoned properties on Main Street, septic issues and nuisance abatement updates.

The Rowan City Council meets Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the community center.
