Hampton-Dumont-CAL will host Iowa Falls-Alden in a North Central Conference basketball doubleheader Tuesday night, which’ll air on 99 The Wave.
The teams last met Jan. 6 in Iowa Falls, splitting the twin bill. The Bulldog girls dropped a four-point decision, while the Bulldog boys edged the Cadets by three.
The Bulldog girls enter the night 4-7 in conference play, sitting just behind Iowa Falls-Alden, which is 6-5 and fourth in the conference standings.
Head Coach Miranda Stafford says the focus for the Bulldogs is playing a complete game from start to finish.
“The first time we played Iowa Falls, we weren’t ready to go,” Stafford says. “Let them jump on us early, then we had to claw back and ran out of time. Being ready to play 32 minutes, knowing the game plan and being able to put the ball in the basket.”
With the postseason approaching, Iowa Falls-Alden Head Coach Michael Collison says finishing strong is critical as teams jockey for position.
“There’s still a lot to play for within the conference standings,” says Collison. “Like right now we’re sitting at fourth but all the teams that are right behind us could easily jump us if we don’t play well. So, we need to try to win every single one of those games that we can and take them one at a time and that’s really what our focus is.”
In the boys game, Hampton-Dumont-CAL will look to snap a five-game skid as it enters the night 3-7 in conference play. Iowa Falls-Alden will be seeking its second conference win of the season.
Tipoff is set for 6 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 5:45 p.m.
