The #2 (2A) Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys wrestling team will host a regional dual meet Tuesday, which will determine a spot in the dual team state tournament. #19 (2A) Denver will face #20 (2A) Humboldt in the semifinal, and the winner will face the Cowboys in the final, which’ll air on 104.9 KLMJ.

Head Coach Cory Yoder says this is the day they’ve been working toward throughout the entire season.

“We’ve been waiting for this day the whole season,” Yoder says. “We’re down to four dual meets left for that state title. And that’s been our ultimate goal here is to win this dual state title.”

At 20-4, the Cowboys have dominated most of their competition, which has included wins against some other highly ranked teams. Throughout the season, they’ve recorded wins over both Denver and Humboldt, but Yoder says their opponents aren’t to be overlooked.

“We’ll be heavily favored in both of them, but like I told the kids, you can’t look by anybody. This is a new season. It’s the postseason. You can’t look by anybody. Everybody’s going to give us their best shot. They’ll have their kids ready, but I’ll have our kids ready to go to because they know they’re getting close to our ultimate goal.”

The first dual will start at 6:00 p.m., with the final to follow. A starting time for the final will be posted on the RadioOnTheGo Facebook and X pages when determined.
