The Clarion City Council received updates on housing assistance, infrastructure and code enforcement during its regular meeting Tuesday.
Wright County Economic Development Director Aaron Budweg highlighted the Heart of Iowa Housing Trust Fund, a multi-county fund that offers forgivable loans of up to $15,000 for home repairs to qualifying homeowners, noting a Clarion property that took advantage of the program last year.
Nick Frederiksen, with ISG, reported the new water treatment plant is nearing completion, with air system issues resolved and water quality testing underway.
The council approved a resolution supporting a Wright County trails grant application and terminated an Iowa Economic Development Authority grant agreement for 124 Main Street. Council members also directed staff to intensify efforts on long-standing nuisance properties before moving into a fiscal year 2027 budget workshop.
