Hampton-Dumont-CAL will be on the road Friday night for a North Central Conference basketball doubleheader at Algona, which will air on 104.9 KLMJ.
The two teams last met Jan. 9, when Algona swept the twin bill.
Head Coach Miranda Stafford says controlling the controllables will be important against a fundamentally sound Algona squad.
“We talked about that in the locker room as well,” Stafford says. “You better go up there ready to compete and control what you can control. Very good team, very good discipline, fundamental team. We’ve gotta go up there and control our attitude, we gotta control our effort, we gotta control our energy. They make everything tough on you.”
On the boys side, Hampton-Dumont-CAL enters the matchup preparing to face Algona’s strong defensive presence while looking to maintain recent confidence in shooting. Head Coach Matt Lokenvitz.
“They run a full-court man-to-man run-and-jump type defense, you don’t see it much in high school and it’s a lot of pressure,” says Lokenvitz. So, if we can take care of the basketball and we go down with the confidence that we’re shooting the ball right now, we’re gonna be a tough out.”
The girls game tips off at 6 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 5:45 p.m.
