Iowa Falls man arrested Thursday on felony drug charges after traffic stop

A 53-year-old Iowa Falls man was arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop in Franklin County Thursday night.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reports John W. Larson was stopped around 8:50 p.m. in the 600 block of Mallard Avenue, west of Bradford, while driving a red 1999 Chevrolet. During the stop, a narcotics detection K-9 was deployed and indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Deputies reportedly found Larson in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Larson was charged with possession of methamphetamine in an amount greater than five grams but less than five kilograms, a Class B felony, possession of cocaine, a Class C felony, and a simple misdemeanor possession charge. He also received traffic warnings for speeding and a defective muffler.

Larson was held overnight at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, appeared before a magistrate Friday morning, and was ordered held on a $25,000 cash-only bond on the felony charges. He is being held in Franklin County custody at the Hardin County Jail.
