The Junior State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa has earned the Governor’s STEM Seal of Approval, recognizing its excellence in providing hands-on STEM learning opportunities for elementary students across the state. The honor highlights programs that inspire young learners to explore science, technology, engineering, and math through inquiry-based experiences.
During the fall 2025 fair season, 279 students in grades 3-5 participated in six regional fairs, including a site hosted at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. Local students from Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and CAL were among those competing, engaging in authentic scientific research, problem-solving, and communication activities.
The recognition underscores the program’s impact in introducing STEM concepts at an early age and helping students across Iowa see themselves as future innovators and scientists.
