
North Iowa Area Community College will offer a free English as a Second Language (ESL) class for adults beginning February 23rd at Belmond-Klemme High School.
The class, designed for adults 18 and older whose first language is not English, will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. through May 14th.
The program will begin with an orientation and student intake session. Participants will work on improving their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in a supportive learning environment. In addition to language development, students will gain knowledge of U.S. culture, government and the responsibilities and benefits of citizenship.
NIACC’s ESL program aims to help students build the skills needed to pursue high school equivalency completion, college education, workforce training, or career advancement.
Classes will be held at Belmond-Klemme High School, located at 411 10th Avenue in Belmond. Questions may be directed to the NIACC Adult Education Program at 641-422-4278 or AEL@niacc.edu.
