The Ackley City Council will meet Wednesday night to consider updates to nuisance ordinances, staffing in the public works department and early steps in the city’s budget and property tax process.

A public hearing is scheduled on the second reading of a proposed ordinance amending the city’s nuisance abatement and junk vehicle regulations. The council is expected to consider approving the second reading, waiving the third reading and adopting the ordinance.

Council members will also discuss public works department staffing, along with several ongoing projects, including general obligation bond projects, roof work at the Civic Center and Pizza Ranch, and the Prairie Bridges 28E agreement.

Budget discussion is also on the agenda, including setting a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2027 property tax levy.

Other action items include consideration of a resolution to hire emergency public works employees as needed.

The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Ackley Council Chambers.
