Aplington-Parkersburg will play its final basketball doubleheader of the season Tuesday at South Hardin, which will air on 99 The Wave and RadioOnTheGo’s YouTube channel.

It’ll be the regular season finale for both girls teams. The Falcons will look to extend their win streak to eight games, having been dominant throughout the current streak. The offense has been crisp, scoring 68 points per game throughout the streak, including a 50 percent shooting effort in Friday’s win over Union. The Tigers will look to perform well in their final tuneup before hosting Union in Saturday’s playoff opener, the same team they faced Monday.

Having earned a top seed in the playoffs, the Falcon boys will look to finish strong with two regular season games remaining.

“South Hardin is a scary team, just for their athleticism and physicality,” Head Coach Aaron Thomas says. “They’ve got some very good basketball players when they’re all healthy. They beat East Marshall. They’re tough out over at their place and we don’t want to lose our momentum and we’ve got to keep getting better. We need to make sure we continue to improve this week. And then we need to show that in the game and sure up some things to keep improving to our best once this tournament starts.”

Sitting near the middle of the standings, the Tigers will look to bring momentum into the playoffs. In a recent four-game win streak, Head Coach John Phillips says they were disciplined in their offensive approach.

“We do like to push the tempo, but sometimes we get in a rush instead of pulling it back out and setting it up and getting the best shot within the 35 seconds,” Phillips says. “In those four games, we were moving the ball really well. We were making the right reads and adjustments. And then we were executing and finishing and putting the ball in the hoop. And that always helps.”

Pregame coverage will start at 6:00 p.m., followed by the tipoff at 6:15.
