First Bank Hampton is warning its customers about scam calls and texts that appear to come from the bank’s phone number.

In a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon, the bank said these messages are not legitimate and are part of a scam targeting local businesses and customers.

According to the post, scammers have been asking recipients to “verify” account information or to click a follow-up text link to “freeze” online banking. First Bank Hampton emphasized that it will never request personal or account information by phone or text, nor will it send links to secure or freeze accounts.

Customers are advised not to click any suspicious links or share personal information. If you receive a suspicious call or text, hang up and contact the bank directly using a trusted phone number.
