
One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash involving a bus in Calhoun County.
According to a press release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety, the crash happened shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 4 near Twin Lakes. Authorities say an Iowa Lakes Community College bus went off the roadway and overturned in a ditch.
Thirty-three people were reported to be on board. Officials say all occupants have been accounted for. Those who were injured were transported by air and ground ambulance to area hospitals. One fatality has been confirmed.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and EMS, the Rockwell City Police Department, Calhoun County Emergency Management, the Iowa Department of Transportation and other supporting agencies.
