A 38-year-old Ackley woman is facing charges following an incident Wednesday afternoon at the Landus grain facility in Bradford.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Aaron Dodd, a 911 call came in from employees at the Landus grain facility reporting being confronted by a woman who was shouting at them and interfering with their work.

Deputies located Laia Pates in an alley south of the facility. Authorities say deputies attempted to detain Pates to speak with her about possible trespassing, harassing language and threats at the Landus location.

During the encounter, officials say Pates attempted to flee and resisted by holding onto a parked vehicle. She is accused of kicking a deputy several times.

Pates was arrested and charged with assault on a peace officer, an aggravated misdemeanor. She was held overnight at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and appeared before a magistrate where bond was set at $2,000 cash only. Pates is expected to be transferred to the Hardin County Jail.
