West Fork boys wrestling prepares for district tournament on Saturday

The West Fork boys wrestling is gearing up for the IHSAA Class 1A district tournament at Lake Mills on Saturday. 

The Warhawks lineup is led by Jensen Robbins who is 21-18 at 215 and 285 and Brooks Jones who is 11-11 at 138. Head Coach Keaton Wilson shares what each wrestler brings to the mat entering the tournament. 

“Jensen, made a lot of improvements from last year. He’s got a very good opportunity this weekend, just has to go out there and wrestle. Let background noise be background noise and don’t let it get in his head. Just go out there and wrestle, have fun with it and stay in good position,” says Wilson. Brooks got third two weekends ago, so Jensen at the North Butler tourney. The best I’ve seen Brooks wrestle this year. In the room, he shows it. It’s all about putting what he does in the room on the mat on Saturday.”

Wilson highlights his message to the team during prep this week and entering competition on Saturday.

“Wrestling is tough. The season’s long. The season’s brutal on your body. Just go out there and wrestle. It doesn’t matter who’s across from you, just wrestle. My big thing for them is to get the proper amount of sleep the night before, be eating the right foods the week of, be drinking the right things the week of. Put yourself at the best shape that you’ve been at going into this tournament. Success will show itself, whether you make it to the state tournament or not.”

The district tournament will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Lake Mills.
