The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Community School District Board of Directors met Thursday, hearing from residents urging support for public education and approving administrative contracts for the 2026-27 school year.
During open forum, members of the grassroots group Public School Strong asked the board to adopt a resolution supporting public schools. Kathy Schnell, who represents the group, read a letter requesting support of public schools and calling for a 5% increase in state supplemental aid. Other residents of Clarion also encouraged the board to approve the resolution and support a petition to be presented at the State House.
The board approved one-year probationary contracts for Jessica Kruckenberg as elementary principal and Brian Williams as middle school principal, both beginning July 1st. Directors also approved the fiscal year 2027 budget guarantee resolution and discussed the upcoming budget timeline, with the first proposed tax rate hearing set for March 24th at 5:30 p.m.
