The Greene City Council approved partial sewer forgiveness Monday for Calvary Baptist Church following a water leak.

Ben Hartwig told the council an outside spigot leak caused excess water usage that did not enter the sewer system. The council voted to forgive half of the sewer portion of the bill.

A resident raised concerns about damage to seal coating on Third and East Rowley Street and a nearby alley, saying snow removal during the first snowfall tore up portions of the surface. Council members said maintenance of the seal coating was the property owner’s responsibility. The council declined to reimburse or reseal the area.

Council members reviewed budget items for the next fiscal year budget, including seal coating, street lights, annual water tower maintenance and main lining. They also set April 13th at 5:30 p.m. for a public hearing on the proposed 2026-2027 tax rate.
