The West Fork boys basketball team will travel to face Lake Mills for the first time since 2021, as the teams meet in a Class 1A District 2 quarterfinal on Monday.
West Fork (9-13) concluded the regular season with an 86-40 loss at Forest City on Thursday, February 12. The Warhawks have an ability to heat up from beyond the arc, averaging six made three’s per game (second in the TIC-East) and shoot 30.6 percent from three point range (third in the TIC-East). Zander Hansen with 13.9 points and Ayden Bonner with 12.4 points per game pace the team. Head Coach Abe Maske says the Warhawks will need to play with energy and confidence facing a win or go home spot.
“With this group, I honestly can say that, I’m always confident that I know they’ve got it in them. We just gotta turn around and get going,” says Maske. “When they start feeling confident, things are rolling well, we can put up points pretty quick and we can create some defensive havoc.”
Lake Mills (12-8) concluded the regular season with an 82-77 win at Newman Catholic on Friday, February 13. The Bulldogs are also successful from beyond the arc, averaging eight made three’s per game (leads the TIC-West) and shot 32.6 percent from three point range (third in the TIC-West). Nash Delger leads the Bulldogs with 19.6 points per game.
Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Lake Mills. The winner will advance to face either Belmond-Klemme or North Iowa in a district semifinal.
