
The North Butler girls basketball team will take a two hour road trip to face #5 (2A) Emmetsburg in a Class 2A Region 5 quarterfinal on Tuesday. The game will air on 104.9 KLMJ.
North Butler (11-11) began the postseason with a 61-19 win at home over Central Springs on Saturday. Against the Panthers, Jady Thorne set a new career school record for three’s reaching 98 and surpassing the previous record of 94. Eden Wix leads the team with 11.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Head Coach Jordan Nolz shares a message the team is rallying around for their postseason run.
“A message that we have from Rick Pitino, have no fear of failure, is what we’ve kind of based it off of. Play every moment like it could be your last. Come out there, play full speed ahead and full effort. Focus both mentally and physically to do the best you can,” says Nolz. “That’s kind of how we’re going to live throughout the postseason, however many games we get through.”
Emmetsburg (20-2) concluded the regular season with a 57-18 win at Estherville Lincoln Central on Tuesday, February 10. Rachel Schany paces the E-Hawks with 21.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. followed by the tip off at 7:00 p.m. in Emmetsburg. The winner will advance to face either Garner-Hayfield-Ventura or Nashua-Plainfield in a regional semifinal.
