RADIO IOWA: Regents propose tuition and fees increase

The Iowa Board of Regents is proposing a 3% increase in resident tuition at the state’s three public universities.

The board will hold the first reading of the proposed tuition increase at its meeting next week. The proposal also includes increases in mandatory student fees at each institution.

The University of Iowa is seeking a $62 increase in fees, bringing the total proposed increase, including tuition, to $349.

Iowa State University is requesting a $24.50 increase in fees, for a total proposed increase of $310.50 when combined with tuition.

The University of Northern Iowa is seeking a $42 increase in fees, bringing its total proposed increase with tuition to $304.
