
Gas prices are trending lower across Iowa this week, according to AAA.
The average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa is $2.45 per gallon as of Wednesday. That is down 9 cents from last week and 57 cents lower than a year ago. The national average stands at $2.92 per gallon, down 2 cents from last week.
Locally, prices vary. According to GasBuddy as of Wednesday afternoon, a gallon of unleaded gasoline is $2.64 in Hampton, $2.48 in Greene and $2.34 in Clarion.
Retail diesel prices in Iowa also declined, falling 5 cents to an average of $3.40 per gallon. A year ago, diesel averaged $3.44 in Iowa. The current statewide price is 27 cents below the national average of $3.67.
Crude oil prices moved lower this week. West Texas Intermediate crude dropped $3.69 to $61.60 per barrel. Brent crude fell $2.48 to $67.72 per barrel. One year ago, WTI was selling for $72.21 and Brent was $83.02.
