The Alden City Council approved several items during its regular meeting Feb. 18.

Council members approved a liquor license for Top of Iowa Lucky Wife LLC for the Faith and Four-Letter Word Ladies Event scheduled for March 24.

The council also approved a request from Martin Marietta to install railroad-style crossing gates on G Avenue, just south of the intersection with 135th Street, to temporarily close the road during blasting procedures.

The gates would be used about twice per month for 15 to 30 minutes. The company must notify Rural Iowa Waste Management and the city’s public works department prior to each blast.

New camping rates were approved for the Alden Riverview Campground. Fees will be $20 per night, $330 per month for 30-amp service and $400 per month for 50-amp service.

Eleven sites will be designated for long-term units.

The council also set a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2026-27 property tax levy for March 23 at 5 p.m.
