The Iowa Falls and Alden school boards approved several key items during a joint meeting Monday, including the 2026–27 school calendar and continuation of their shared superintendent agreement.
The approved calendar sets the first day of classes for August 24th and includes a two-week winter break. The boards also approved shared staff contracts, including positions such as transportation director, elementary counselor, and instrumental and vocal music teachers, and confirmed Superintendent Tony Neumann will continue serving both districts.
Much of the joint meeting focused on a “current realities” presentation outlining long-term challenges facing the districts. Over the next year, the districts plan to form a study committee to examine enrollment, finances and how best to serve students moving forward. A community survey is expected in the coming weeks.
Following the joint session, the Alden School Board reviewed budget projections, approved its budget guarantee resolution and set public hearings on the budget for March 23rd and April 20th. Enrollment trends were identified as a key concern heading into next fall.
