Aplington-Parkersburg faces Denver in Class 2A regional semifinal

The Aplington-Parkersburg girls basketball team will travel to Denver tonight to face Denver in a Class 2A Region 4 semifinal. The game will air on 99 The Wave.

The contest marks the third meeting between the teams this season, with Denver winning the previous two matchups.

The Falcons (15-8) advanced with a win over South Winneshiek in the opening round of Class 2A postseason play. Lorna Bernard and Kolbie Wangsness each scored 15 points, while Eva Eddy added 11 in the 15-point victory.

Denver (20-2), ranked No. 4 in Class 2A, defeated Sumner-Fredericksburg in its postseason opener, winning by 49 points. Channing Johnson led Denver with 13 points and Mylee Thurm added 12.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. The winner will advance to face either Cascade or Bellevue in the regional final.
