The West Fork girls basketball team will face Sioux Central for only the second time in program history, as the teams meet in a Class 2A Region 1 semifinal on Friday. The Warhawks won the previous meeting 67-50 in a Class 2A regional semifinal in 2025.

West Fork (11-11) advanced with a 48-17 win at home over East Marshall in a regional quarterfinal on Tuesday. Zada Huff delivered 17 points and Brylee Dickman added 13 against the Mustangs. The Warhawks defense was also locked in with 23 steals and didn’t allow a double digit scoring quarter to the Mustangs, a performance the Warhawks will look to replicate against the Rebels. Head Coach Rodney Huber highlights the value of postseason experience for this year’s squad.

“We’ve talked how you want to get deep into postseason, especially for a young team, the experience of getting to that point was invaluable. Playing in front of a big crowd, district reffing is different, it feels like a different season, honestly, I think,” says Huber. “Getting to the third or fourth round would be huge for this group. Having that experience and knowing what to expect for the next year or so. You just take it one game at a time, obviously. You focus on who’s in front of you. Then just see what you can do. Do your best.”

Sioux Central (16-6) advanced with a 63-20 win at home over South Hamilton in a regional quarterfinal on Tuesday. Avery Wilson paced the Rebels with 21 points against the Hawks. The Rebels also enter off a stout defensive performance with 21 steals and their lowest opponent point total allowed this season.

Action will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Sioux Rapids. The winner will advance to face either #1 (2A) Rock Valley or Ridge View in the regional championship.
