An intense band of snow dropped significant accumulation across parts of Iowa from Thursday night into early Friday morning, with snowfall totals topping a foot in parts of north-central Iowa.
According to snowfall reports from the National Weather Service, Allison and Clarksville each recorded 13 inches. Hampton received 11 inches of snow, while Steamboat Rock measured just under a foot. Buckeye and New Hartford each saw 10.5 inches. Parkersburg reported 9.5 inches, Belmond recorded nine inches and Wellsburg measured just over 8.5 inches.
One of the highest totals reported statewide was near Fredericksburg, where nearly 16 inches of snow was measured.
The heavy snowfall created hazardous travel conditions across the region, impacting the Friday morning commute as road crews worked to clear highways and local streets.
