The Iowa State Patrol responded to 277 calls for service between 9 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday as a winter storm dumped heavy snow across much of the state.
According to the state patrol, troopers covered 75 crashes during the 22-hour period, including 64 property-damage incidents and 11 crashes involving personal injuries. No fatalities were reported.
In addition to crashes, troopers provided 202 motorist assists as drivers contended with snow-covered and slick roadways. Parts of north-central and northeast Iowa received a foot of snow or more during the storm, creating hazardous travel conditions through the night and into the Friday morning commute.
