The 2025-26 season has come to a close for the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys basketball team. The Cowboys finished 15-9, a significant improvement from last year’s 8-15 mark.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows advanced to the Class 2A District 2 championship after defeating Eagle Grove and Sioux Central before falling to Southeast Valley.

The Cowboys went 7-7 in North Central Conference play and ranked fourth in scoring, third in assists, second in rebounds and blocks, fifth in steals and fourth in points allowed.

Junior Chaz Lane finished among the top five in the conference in scoring and rebounding, while junior JD Morrical ranked in the top five in assists.

The Cowboys will graduate seniors Johnny Lomeli, Tristan Kakacek, Ethan Hasty, McCoy Yackle and Joseph Leal. Despite those losses, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows is set to return eight players next season, most of whom gained significant varsity experience this year.
