gavel-court-3

A 39-year-old man has been indicted on multiple federal charges involving alleged crimes against a minor, according to court documents filed in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday. The indictment outlines a series of offenses that authorities say occurred over several years and involve exploitation, transportation, and possession of illegal material.

The man, Brandon Scott Baker, formerly of Grundy Center, is charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a child, two counts of transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, one count of receipt of child pornography, one count of transportation of child pornography, and four counts of possession of child pornography.

Prosecutors allege Baker used or attempted to use a minor to produce visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct and transported a minor across state lines with intent to engage in sexual activity.

If convicted on all counts, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a possible maximum of life imprisonment, followed by supervised release for life. Baker is scheduled to be arraigned March 6th and is being held without bond.
