The Hardin County Board of Supervisors set a public hearing date and approved several contracts during its meeting Wednesday.

Supervisors scheduled a public hearing on the proposed maximum property tax levy for March 25th at 9:00 a.m. at the courthouse.

The board approved a tentative labor agreement with American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 61 representing sheriff’s deputies, citing efforts to improve recruitment and retention.

In other business, supervisors approved a $2.04 million Iowa DOT contract with Manatt’s Inc. for asphalt resurfacing on County Road D-41 near Eldora, along with a preconstruction agreement tied to summer paving work on Highway 175 from Hubbard to Ellsworth.

Supervisors also accepted the resignation of Dawn England from the Conservation Board and tabled her replacement for one week. Discussion continued on a tax sale request from the City of Whitten and directed the county attorney to outline options for transferring the parcel in a way that would limit county liability and costs.
