The Rockwell City Council discussed several upcoming community events during its Wednesday meeting, including activities organized by the Rockwell Lions Club.
Tim Nuehring, representing the Lions Club, thanked the council and community for their continued support of club events. Nuehring said the club again won the Grand National Pull in 2025 and will host the 17th annual North Iowa Nationals August 6-8. The event will include five pulling sessions and a performance by the Jason Brown Band following the Friday session. Nuehring said the club hopes to secure a sponsor to cover the band’s cost, with proceeds from the concert going to the American Legion.
The council approved waiving the city’s noise ordinance until 1 a.m. Aug. 6-9 for the event and until 2 a.m. August 14-16 for Truck Fest, which the Lions Club will host again this year.
Mayor Larry Wentz told Nuehring that the city will be installing a driver feedback speed sign on County Road B-60 near the campground and pool, and asked for the Lions Club’s support in placing another on Elm Street near Chamber Acres. This will be revisited at a future meeting.
