A semi-truck overturned Wednesday morning on Highway 57 near Austinville. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred around 7:50 a.m. when the westbound truck entered a curve too quickly. The driver lost control, and the vehicle tipped onto its passenger side in the north ditch.

The truck, a 2006 black Freightliner Conventional hauling an enclosed box trailer for MJ Transport LLC of Cedar Falls, was totaled, the Patrol reported. Minor damage was noted to a nearby DOT road curve sign. The sole occupant, 35-year-old James Cummings of Greene, was wearing a shoulder and lap belt and was uninjured, according to authorities. No additional injuries were reported.

The Iowa State Patrol said the road was dry but foggy conditions were present. Cummings was cited for failing to reduce speed to a reasonable and proper rate while negotiating the curve. Traffic was affected for a period following the accident as crews cleared the scene.
