Ackley City Council sets agenda for March 11 meeting

The Ackley City Council will meet Wednesday, March 11 in the Ackley Council Chambers to consider several items including ordinance changes, street projects and staffing needs.

Two public hearings are scheduled at the start of the meeting. The first will address the third reading of a proposed ordinance amending city codes related to nuisance abatement and junk or abandoned vehicles. Council members will then consider final approval and adoption of the ordinance.

A second public hearing will focus on plans, specifications and cost estimates for the city’s 2026 street resurfacing and preservation project, followed by possible action on bids for the work.

Other agenda items include discussion of public works staffing, advertising for a municipal pool manager and lifeguards, and review of the proposed fiscal year 2027 city budget.

Council members will also consider several resolutions, including agreements with the Iowa Department of Transportation and ACI Application Services, as well as setting employee wages.

The council will also review infrastructure updates involving storm sewer projects, a new water treatment plant and other public works improvements.

The meeting is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Ackley Council Chambers.
