Gasoline prices are climbing across Iowa this week.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Iowa is now $3.19, up 26 cents from last week and also 26 cents higher than this time a year ago. The national average stands at $3.58 per gallon, an increase of 38 cents from a week ago.

Crude oil prices also moved higher. West Texas Intermediate crude rose $12.33 per barrel this week to $87.25, while Brent crude increased $10.20 to $91.84 per barrel. One year ago, WTI crude sold for $66.52 and Brent crude was $71.51.

Diesel prices also saw a significant jump. The statewide average for diesel in Iowa rose 52 cents this week to $4.42 per gallon. A year ago, diesel averaged $3.67 in the state. Despite the increase, Iowa diesel remains 41 cents lower than the national average of $4.83.

According to GasBuddy, local prices Wednesday afternoon showed regular unleaded selling for $3.29 per gallon in Hampton, Eldora and Greene.
