6-seed Aplington-Parkersburg had its season ended with a 76-54 loss to 3-seed Regina Catholic in Wednesday’s 2A quarterfinal round at the IHSAA State Basketball Tournament, as aired on 99 The Wave.

The Falcons had trouble making shots out of the gate, and fell behind by double digits in the first quarter. Regina’s size and physicality proved to be too much to overcome, and they only attempted one three-pointer in the first half. After trailing by as many as 25 points, better shooting in the second half got the Falcons to within 14, but no closer.

Head Coach Aaron Thomas says it was too big of a first half deficit to climb out of.

AP’s season has ended at 22-4.
