5-seed Grundy Center fell 57-48 to 4-seed Treynor in Wednesday’s 2A quarterfinal round at the IHSAA State Basketball Tournament, as aired on 99 The Wave.

After scoring the first six points, the Spartans went nine minutes without scoring early in the first half, allowing Treynor to take the lead. Grundy Center was held without a two-point field goal until early in the third quarter, only scoring on three-pointers and free throws in the first half. Down by three entering the fourth quarter, Brayden Davie hit a three-pointer and had an and-one which each tied the game, but they never took the lead back after the initial surge. Treynor sealed the game at the free throw line in the final minutes. Senior Judd Jirovsky says there were a variety of factors that led to the result.
