The Iowa Falls-Alden girls basketball team finished the 2025-26 season with an 11-11 record, good for a fourth-place finish in the North Central Conference.

After a slow start, the Cadets found their rhythm following the holiday break, putting together multiple winning streaks that included key conference victories over Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Webster City and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. Iowa Falls-Alden closed the regular season by winning four of its final six games before falling to Roland-Story in postseason play.

While the second half of the season showed the team’s potential, Head Coach Michael Collison says the next step will be carrying that momentum into the start of the season.

“The thing that I think will be the challenge for our team next year is can we have a good start and to complement with that good January and February where we’re able to win some games,” Collison says.

Three Cadets received postseason honors in the North Central Conference. Elody England was named first-team all-conference, Izzy Janssen earned second-team honors and Dani Rieks was selected to the third team.

The Cadets return nearly their entire roster as they look ahead to the 2026-27 season. Collison says the North Central Conference is expected to remain highly competitive, with many teams also returning experienced players.

“I know the teams in the league that we finished behind, they also bring almost everybody back,” Collison says. “And the teams that we just barely finished ahead of bring almost everybody back. So it’s really going to be an exciting year to see in December and January who improved over the summer. No doubt, that time is going to ask us, ‘What did you do?’ and I’m hoping we say we did a lot.”

The Cadets will now turn their attention to the offseason as they look to build on a strong finish to the 2025-26 season.
