Beau Klaver, a Republican from Kamrar, announced Thursday on social media that he is campaigning for the Iowa House District 55 seat.
In a Facebook post, Klaver said he believes in the future of Iowa agriculture and rural communities and is running to keep rural communities strong while supporting Iowa’s next generation. He said part of his campaign will focus on revitalizing beginning farmer programs with the Iowa Finance Authority and advocating for the Choose Iowa program, which promotes locally produced healthy foods.
Klaver grew up on a family farm near Kamrar and is a sixth-generation farmer. He graduated from Webster City High School and studied agricultural studies at Iowa State University. Klaver also serves on the Hamilton County Farm Bureau Board.
The announcement comes after current Republican state Rep. Shannon Latham of Sheffield said she will not seek reelection.
Iowa House District 55 includes all of Franklin County, all of Hamilton County and parts of Wright and Story counties.
