More than 37,000 high school seniors across Iowa will soon receive letters in the mail as part of a new statewide effort to help students plan for life after graduation.

Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Education announced the launch of the “Claim Your Future” initiative, which provides seniors with information about higher education opportunities at Iowa’s colleges and universities and the steps needed to apply and secure financial aid.

The letters include QR codes that link students directly to college and university applications, as well as federal and state financial aid forms such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the Iowa Financial Aid Application.

State officials say the initiative is designed to ensure every Iowa senior is aware of in-state postsecondary options, including many programs with automatic admissions.

Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, the letters will be sent in the fall to help students begin planning earlier for college and career opportunities in Iowa.
