The Alden City Council approved several items during its regular meeting Monday, including plans for this summer’s Alden Days celebration and a telecommunications project within the city.
Council members unanimously approved street closures for Alden Days, scheduled for June 18-20. The closures will impact multiple streets around the fire station, library and downtown area to accommodate events such as a parade, tractor ride, food vendors and entertainment.
The council also approved a building permit for WmTel Communications to construct a telecom center and concrete pad at the city’s water tower lot on Hardin Street. The project is part of ongoing fiber optic improvements, with crews expected to continue lawn and property repairs throughout the summer.
In other business, officials discussed a potential generator for the water treatment plant and received an update on economic development efforts in Hardin County.
