The AP/GC boys wrestling team made progress as a dual team during the 2025-2026 season, compiling a 16-7 record. With a full lineup of 14 wrestlers at most meets, they contended among the best in the NICL, including some upset wins over ranked teams throughout the season. Head Coach Joel Reints believes they took a step forward and were on the cusp of qualifying for a regional dual.
“We had good season as a dual team, beat a lot of good teams, beat a ranked Denver team, lost a tough one to New Hampton,” Reints says. “They were in and out of the rankings. I may be a little biased, but I felt like we deserved the opportunity at a regional dual. Unfortunately, you’ve got to be ranked in the top 24 of 2A. And I feel like we’re probably right on that brink of making it in there. But it’s left up to a vote by a board and they chose to go in different directions.”
They’re expected to return state qualifiers Leo Block and Gage Miller next season. Zion Uhlenhopp, Maison Copp, Parker Mulder, Mason Pruisner and Emerick Nolte each surpassed 30 wins and are also projected to return. Reints says that sets the stage for a bright future, and they’ll look to improve their strength of schedule.
“If we want to be back there, we’re going to have to flip some of those duals that I talked about being close and continue to wrestle some tough competition and go compete with them. We’re exploring ways to upgrade the schedule, just to see where we’re at as a dual team. I think it’ll be really strong coming back because all those guys are also returning.”
Eight seniors have departed the program.
