The Hardin County Treasurer’s Office is reminding residents that the second installment of property taxes is due at the end of the month.
According to a press release , Treasurer Machel Eichmeier says property tax payments must be received in the Treasurer’s Office or postmarked by March 31 to avoid penalty. Officials advise residents not to wait until the last minute to mail payments, noting items should be in the mailbox by March 30 or taken directly to the post office for hand cancellation to ensure a valid postmark.
Payments can also be made online through the Iowa Treasurers website using e-check for a small fee, or by credit card with an additional service charge.
Residents can also access property tax information, vehicle registration services and other resources online 24 hours a day through the same website.
