The Board of Regents introduced David Cook as the new president of Iowa State University in November, and he has now begun his tenure.
Cook told Radio Iowa he has outlined his first 100 days to listen, learn and meet with people to better understand “what are the opportunities and the challenges.”
Cook is an Ames native and Iowa State graduate who most recently served as president of North Dakota State University. He replaces Wendy Wintersteen, who retired in January.
Cook is scheduled to be in Des Moines on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers for the first time.
He says his wife has joined him in Ames, and they have already begun speaking with students to gather feedback. Cook says the proposed tuition increase is one of the topics they plan to discuss.
